The Afton Large lantern is designed by Julie Neill for Visual Comfort & Co. The ceiling light carries the room's base lighting and acts as a focal point. Over a dining table, allow 60–70 cm between the tabletop and the lower edge of the fitting.
Choose between 3 finishes: Plaster White, Gild and Aged Iron. The tone of the metal affects how warm the light feels.
The width is 86.4 cm. It weighs 4.5 kg — worth checking against the ceiling fixing before installation. Lead time is 2-8 weeks. It is a fitting in the larger format. Over a dining table you want the width to be roughly half the tabletop, so this one suits tables from around 140 cm upwards.
We recommend the Afton Large lantern for hallways and living rooms. We recommend a dimmable bulb with a warm colour temperature, around 2700 K. That is where brass and nickel render their tones best.
At Visual Comfort & Co. the finishes are applied by hand, which means no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Small variations in the surface are intentional and part of the character. Julie Neill is one of the designers the house works with.
