In a unique collaboration with The Josef & Anni Albers Foundation, Italian house Dedar brings textile artist Anni Albers' iconic pattern to the fore in the Ancient Writing 1936 textile collection. This refined curtain weave unites a strict geometric expression with archaic echoes and a crafted weaving technique. By varying six different weft yarns, it creates a lively pattern with subtle depth, where some lines stand out sharply while others merge softly with the background. The result is a textile that combines modernist rigour with a timeless, harmonious warmth.

The fabric has a wonderfully soft drape that is exceptionally well suited to drapes and curtains in rooms where light, shadow and texture are allowed to interact. Here the Italian weaving house Dedar shows its outstanding ability to transform historical pattern ideas into functional elegance for modern homes. Ancient Writing 1936 is available both in a dramatic dark colourway with high contrast and in a soft, light and radiant ivory tone. When the curtains are hung, the subtle gradations of colour and material in the weave create a quiet rhythm that adds architectural character and a cosy feel to the home.
