Métro Beaubourg from Italy's Dedar is an assured textile artwork in which architectural rigour meets a linear pattern. The design draws its graphic inspiration from the iconic structure of the Centre Pompidou and the rhythmic branches of the metro map, creating an intriguing balance between the familiar and the entirely new. The advanced jacquard-woven structure, with its tactile canneté ribbing, recalls the craft tradition of classic tapestries, but in a wholly contemporary and sophisticated expression. With its balanced colour range, moving from modernist exuberance to muted Art Deco elegance, the textile adds depth and character to every room in the home.

The appealing three-dimensional surface and distinctive play of lines of this patterned fabric make it very well suited to both upholstery and drapes with a strong visual presence. In a well-considered interior, Métro Beaubourg works just as well as an architectural focal point on an upholstered armchair or headboard as on grand curtain lengths and fabric-covered wall panels.
