Pure Marigold Print dates from 1875 and was drawn by William Morris. The pattern is drawn from observed nature rather than ornament, and that difference is what still makes it work today.

The pattern repeat is 32.0 cm, which makes it a medium repeat. It is a size that works in both small and large rooms. A straight pattern match makes installation straightforward. Pure Marigold Print is available in 3 colourways — Linen/Oyster, Black Ink and Lightish Grey. The difference between them is greater than you might think — the same pattern can give you either a muted or a light room.

Pure Marigold Print is part of Pure Morris North from Morris & Co. The Pure series keeps its patterns in white, linen and grey, letting texture rather than colour carry the look. It works where a fully coloured pattern would be too much.

The fabric is 142 cm wide and woven in 100% linen. A Martindale rating of 20 000 rubs makes it suitable for upholstery.

The pattern works particularly well in living rooms and bedrooms. The look combines a classic poise, timelessness and sophisticated restraint, on a dark ground. Large-scale motifs show to best advantage on curtains and larger surfaces, less so on cushions and details.
