The oval glass-topped High Lustre coffee table from Jonathan Charles is a coffee table that carries all the finest qualities of the British cabinetmaking tradition. It belongs to the JC Modern - Santos collection, which is firmly rooted in Brazilian modernism with earthy warmth. Here, Santos rosewood veneer with polished surfaces comes together in a design inspired by mid-century Brazilian design, and the oval glass-topped High Lustre coffee table carries that whole aesthetic forward in its own characterful interpretation. Every Jonathan Charles piece passes through the hands of specialist craftsmen — the joiner, the cabinetmaker, the marquetry artisan and the master finisher — before it is ready to leave the workshop. At home, the oval glass-topped High Lustre coffee table serves as a serene setting for evening gatherings in the living room. Its proportions are judged so that the piece holds its own without taking over — exactly the balance Jonathan Charles is known for. Styling tip: Let the table define the seating area — ideally a few centimetres wider than the sofa itself. A choice that rewards careful looking — the longer you live with it, the more you discover.
