Behind the pattern is William Morris, 1881, registered as a design in 1883. In the Wide Width version it is woven in double width — the same design, a new technique.

The 301 cm width is the whole point: you sew floor-length curtains without a join, with the fabric railroaded. What would otherwise take several drops becomes a single one here.

The pattern repeat is 59 cm — a medium-sized repeat. The colourways are Blush and Linen — the same design comes across differently in different light.

The pattern is part of Simply Wide Width, Morris & Co's range in which the house's designs are woven in double width specifically for curtain making. The range covers both dense qualities and fine sheers, so the whole window can be dressed from the same family.

This quality is a fine, semi-sheer weave in 100% cotton that filters the light — hang it closest to the window, on its own or beneath a heavier curtain.

The pattern shows at its best in living rooms and bedrooms.
