Textiles with a pattern in relief offer a unique way to create depth and variation in a room without feeling dominant. Zhi from Nina Campbell, part of the Cathay Weaves collection, is an excellent example. It is a semi-plain chenille in which a geometric diamond pattern emerges through its tactile texture. Made in Italy, the textile strikes a fine balance between discreet elegance and handcrafted quality. The fabric is available in the characterful colourways Tomato and Aqua.

Thanks to a very high abrasion resistance of 100 000 Martindale, Zhi withstands intensive use and is excellent for upholstery, both at home and in contract projects. The fabric's plump quality and 138 cm width also make it well suited to beautifully falling curtains and luxurious scatter cushions. The blend of 48% viscose, 32% cotton and 20% polyester gives a soft feel with a fine lustre, while the 7.5 cm vertical repeat makes pattern matching easier in bespoke sewing.
