Apsley from Jane Churchill is a beautifully patterned fabric from the Tarka collection, in which the classic stripe takes on a softer, more handcrafted expression. The slightly diffuse ikat edges of the pattern create a subtle movement across the surface, breaking up the strict vertical line and bringing a sophisticated yet relaxed feel to the room. Woven chenille accents give the textile a wonderful tactile fullness and a pleasing textural depth that catches the light in an understated, elegant way. Together with the natural, linen-coloured ground, a harmonious balance arises between pattern and neutral background.

The textile's fine balance makes it as suitable for generous curtain lengths as for upholstering furniture. When hung as curtains, the vertical stripes create a visual sense of height that adds space and architectural structure to the room, while the softness of the chenille yarn gives a natural, heavy drape. Used as an upholstery fabric, Apsley gives armchairs or chairs a timeless character that blends well into both classic and more modern interiors. The Tarka collection unites British textile tradition with a soft aesthetic that makes it easier to create harmonious, cosy and assured homes.
