Behind the Oscar floor lamp is Barbara Barry, designer for Visual Comfort & Co. A floor lamp solves reading light where there is no table. It is also easy to move when the furniture is rearranged.
The fitting comes in 2 finishes — Plaster White With Linen Shade and Aged Iron With Linen Shade. It is worth matching them to the other metals in the room. The materials are nickel & chrome.
It measures 47 cm wide and 158.1 cm high. It weighs 6.8 kg — worth checking against the ceiling fixing before installation. Delivery time is 2-8 weeks.
The Oscar floor lamp is at its best in studies, bedrooms and living rooms. Choose a warm white bulb around 2700 K and ideally fit a dimmer — lighting needs to be able to shift between day and evening.
Visual Comfort & Co. works with invited designers rather than an in-house studio. That is why the range spans from restrained neoclassical to distinctly decorative — each series carries the signature of its creator. Barbara Barry is one of the designers the house works with.
Lighting is hard to judge from a photograph. Do come into the showroom at Sturegatan 20 and see the fitting switched on.
